I am curious about underlying patterns that often hide beneath the visible world that we see. My work takes me to the streams of Himalayan foothills and Deccan Plateau where I look at freshwater fish communities. I try to understand the  factors which drive the assembly of fish communities in such contrasting environments. My focus lies at looking at community structure from the perspective of species abundance and trophic structure.

I am also looking at food webs in these areas using stable isotope analysis. Similar patterns in food chain links may suggest at some fundamental rule which is applicable in contrasting landscapes.

My life beyond lab involves a shy introvert working for stray animal rescue, solo travelling, culinary adventures and books.
