Academic pursuit in Fish Lab: My thesis focused on studying behavioural variations among wild zebrafish collected from habitats varying in factors like predation pressure, habitat complexity, fish abundance and diversity, water flow etc. I investigated within and between-population variations in behaviours like activity, risk-taking tendencies, aggression and shoaling. I studied the existence of relationships among behavioural traits and repeatability in behaviour. Further, I looked into variations in spatial learning and memory among wild fish (juveniles and adults) and tested the existence of social learning in solving complex tasks.

Pursuits of passion: I am deeply interested in clay sculpting and have developed some level of expertise in that. I am an avid traveller fascinated by nature as well as culture. I love to travel around places that are deep-rooted in history and have great artistic and architectural importance. My fascination for the Himalayas has been my motivation for the several high-altitude treks I have undertaken. Mythology has been a subject of great interest and appreciation since childhood. I often involve in drawing ideas from the myths to develop an understanding of human behaviour, the society and its issues, and my observation says there are elements in the myths that support biological concepts as well.
